K-FLEX SRC and K-FLEX SRC ECO

The world today is increasingly aware of the need to meet fire safety requirements and reduce energy consumption, and the new K-FLEX SRC and K-FLEX SRC ECO sheets have been developed specifically with these criteria in mind. K-FLEX SRC, in conjunction with K-FLEX ST tubes, complies with the current European testing on fire classification of construction products and building components, and offers design, engineers and installers a complete range of solutions for the insulation of pipes, ducting and technical systems, capable of reducing the emission of smoke. K-FLEX SRC sheet works by combining the features of closed cell elastomeric foam and the performance of an aluminised protective outer jacket. The elastomeric foam ensures good thermal performance like low thermal conductivity and high resistance to water vapour diffusion. In case of fire, the outer jacket protects against fire by retarding its onset, slowing the propagation of the flame and as a result, the emission of smoke. The special halogen-free elastomeric foam compound of the new K-FLEX ECO SRC sheets ensure that, in case of fire, any smoke are free of hazardous hydrohalic acids and organochlorine compounds. K-FLEX ECO SRC sheets further increase the level of safety in case of fire, making them an ideal solution to protect personal safety.

K-FLEX @ Neftegaz 2014 Moscow

“Oil & Gas 2014” - the 15th international exhibition - was held in Moscow 26th-29th May. Example of K-FONIK material used to increase the performance of sound insulation in a building complex.

The dividing wall was built out of aerated concrete brickwork. The materials applied for acoustic insulation are as follows:
> K-FLEX K-FONIK GK sheets – high density rubber soundproofing
> K-FLEX K-FONIK 160 sheets - soundproofing semi-open cellular material, made by compacting FEF flakes with the correct size and degree of compaction designed to achieve maximum performance of a wide frequency band.

K-FLEX ISOCALC

The IsoCalc program is designed to perform various rudimentary thermal calculations using fundamental engineering heat flow formulas and input data that is application specific. The program will determine the following information applicable to pipe and sheet insulation for piping, duct, and large vessel applications:

Surface and Outlet Temperatures
Cost to Operate System/Energy Savings
Time to Freeze

Typical input data which may be required for above calculations are: Fluid temperature, Ambient Temperature, Pipe Size, Relative Humidity, Length of Pipe, and Flow Rate. Thermal k-values for the insulation products offered have been pre-selected. 

Note: information must be entered in all input fields for the program to operate.

If a given condition data point is not known, i.e. relative humidity, the program can be run using different conditions and the options presented to the end user for final insulation thickness selection. Several factors must be considered when determining operating conditions. For condensation control, "design" operating conditions should be selected. In other cases, efficiency (optimum pay-back) may be considered.

The project: upgrading the acoustics in the new SAP offices, located in the Torri Bianche area, Vimercate (Milan). The work was carried out by Methis - Office Furniture Division, Coopsette group - supplier of movable walls and partitions for offices.
